What’s the plan here, Zelenskiy says will meet Trump Sunday to discuss Ukraine peace plan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced Friday that he plans to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday to discuss territory and security guarantees as they work toward ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“This meeting is specifically for the purpose of finalizing everything as much as we can,” Zelenskiy said.
The Ukrainian leader revealed that a 20-point peace plan is now 90% complete, with security guarantees “almost ready.” During the upcoming meeting, Zelenskiy intends to raise unresolved issues that still lack compromise.
Zelenskiy also expressed his desire to discuss with Trump potential additional pressure on Russia. He noted that allies could play a role in pressing Russia to ensure security during potential referendum and elections.
When asked about the outcome of Sunday’s meeting, Zelenskiy was cautious, stating he “cannot say if Sunday meeting with Trump will lead to signing any agreements.”
