We might have a slight problem, OPEC+ quotas review delayed amid Iran war
An OPEC+ review designed to set 2027 oil output quotas has been postponed after the US-Israeli war on Iran disrupted capacity expansion projects across the Middle East, Reuters reported on Friday.
The production capacity review, which was ordered for all OPEC+ members in late 2025, was scheduled for completion by the end of September. The deadline has now reportedly shifted to mid-November.
OPEC+ includes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Russia, and other allied nations.
The Middle East conflict has delayed projects intended to increase production capacity in several OPEC+ countries, making it difficult to estimate future oil output potential. Some countries have not yet submitted required data for the review, the report said, without identifying which members.
The review seeks to provide an independent assessment of how much oil each member can produce on a sustained basis. This metric plays a central role in negotiations over output targets.
