Two is better than one, Amgen and AstraZeneca report asthma drug trial results

Amgen (NASDAQ: AMGN) and AstraZeneca (LON: AZN) announced Tuesday that their asthma drug showed positive results in treating eosinophilic esophagitis, with 69% of patients achieving disease remission.
The drug Tezspire is being tested in patients with symptomatic and uncontrolled eosinophilic esophagitis, a condition that causes swelling and irritation in the esophagus, leading to difficult swallowing and food becoming stuck.
The trial showed that 65% of patients taking the 210 mg dose and 69% of those on the 420 mg dose achieved remission of inflammation at 24 weeks, compared with 3.5% of patients who received a placebo.
The benefits continued through 52 weeks, with 67.8% of patients on the 210 mg dose and 63.3% on the 420 mg dose maintaining disease remission, compared with 5.4% on placebo.
