Tell me something good, Vera Therapeutics stock jumps on positive trial results

Vera Therapeutics (NASDAQ: VERA) shares rose 13% Tuesday after the company announced that TRUTAKNA met all prespecified endpoints in the final efficacy analysis of its ORIGIN 3 trial for IgA nephropathy.

The trial demonstrated that TRUTAKNA, the first and only FDA-approved BAFF and APRIL inhibitor, stabilized estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and prevented kidney disease progression through two years in adults with primary IgA nephropathy at risk for disease progression.

In the final analysis of 428 patients, TRUTAKNA showed a mean eGFR change from baseline at 52 weeks of -0.1 mL/min/1.73m2 compared to -5.7 mL/min/1.73m2 for placebo, representing a treatment effect of 5.6. The annualized eGFR slope through 104 weeks was -0.6 mL/min/1.73m2/year for TRUTAKNA versus -5.6 mL/min/1.73m2/year for placebo, a treatment effect of 5.0.
