Shown The Nearest Door, Uncle Nearest CEO Fawn Weaver fired from company
After a long battle in the court, Uncle Nearest CEO Fawn Weaver has been fired from the company.
The legacy named Tennessee whiskey brand has been under the control of a court-appointed receiver since August after defaulting on $200 million in debt from Farm Credit Mid-America.
Currently the receiver running Uncle Nearest signed a non-binding letter of intent to “sell substantially all assets” of Uncle Nearest, its real estate holdings firm and Nearest Green Distillery to an African American-owned investment firm, the filing states. A federal judge would have to approve the sale first.
According to federal records filed July 10, the receiver fired Weaver and her husband, Keith Weaver, a cofounder of Uncle Nearest. Their termination was backdated to June 1, according to the filing.
